Henley goes Green - what is your Council doing?

With a record number of hanging baskets sold and going out around the town plus Great Big Green Week starting on 10th June, the town seems to have been inspired to think Green.

What does the council do in regards to "being green"?

Did you know that HTC are working towards being net zero by 2030?
Did you know that there is a Climate Emergency Working Group who meet regularly? Recently discussing solar power options, emission reductions, tree planting schemes, energy audits and looks at what other towns do.
Did you know we have a Conservation Officer as part of the Parks Team who specialises in conservation and planting?
Did you know the parks team vehicles are moving away from diesel and onto a more eco friendly fuel source – Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil?
Did you know there is a new electric car available to hire in Henley as part of the Car Club?
The council are also moving to LED lights for Jubilee Park, looking at renewable energy supply, installing smart meters to monitor energy usage, have provided electric charging points for cars in the town, had an energy audit of six town council properties, provide energy saving drop in clinics and stalls at events, supply grants and advice to local businesses …..
Alongside being involved in ‘No Mow May’, the decision was made to leave more areas of the Fairmile, Gillotts Field, Marsh Meadows and the Cemetery less manicured and more welcoming to wildlife and wildflowers
Did you know three species of Orchid have been spotted in Gillotts field and two on the Fairmile?

Lots still can be done but conservation and all things green are high on the Council's agenda.
