Nominations open for the Henley Town Medal

The Town Medal is a prestigious honour bestowed by Henley-on-Thames Town Council on someone for outstanding contribution to local community over a period of at least ten years. The Town Medal may be awarded to one or more people in any given Council year, or may not be awarded at all, should no suitable candidate be proposed.

Members of the public may put forward nominations for the Town Medal via any Town Councillor


The person must fulfil all the following criteria at the time of consideration:

·      Has significantly contributed, above and beyond the call of duty, to the wellbeing of Henley-on-Thames and its community over a period of at least ten years.

·      Be of good character and a positive role model for members of the community.

·      Is alive or, in the case of a posthumous award, died no more than three years prior to their nomination.

·      Is not currently a Henley town councillor or employed by the Town Council.

·      Has no unspent criminal convictions.

·      Has at no time canvassed for or offered to purchase, bribe, or give any other inducement to gain a Town Medal or other award.

The Council has a responsibility to promote equality, and welcomes proposals for the Town Medal irrespective of gender, sexuality, age, ethnicity, religion or faith, or nationality.

Deadline for nominations: 2nd December

Awards confirmed: 3rd January

Award ceremony: February/March
