Henley-on-Thames Mayor, Councillor Tom Buckley, has launched The Mayor’s Mission – a year-long programme of community fundraising events supporting three local charities: Nomad Centre, The Chiltern Centre, and Lowland Rescue.

The first event, the Mayor’s Charity Bike Ride, will take place on Saturday 15 November 2025, starting at 9.30am from Henley Market Place. The scenic route will guide cyclists through Henley’s beautiful countryside via quiet roads and bridleways, offering riders of most abilities the chance to enjoy the outdoors while raising funds for good causes.

Since becoming Mayor in May 2025, Councillor Buckley has focused his term on strengthening community connections and supporting those in need. His chosen charities each reflect that commitment – helping families in hardship, supporting young adults with disabilities, and assisting those who put themselves at risk to help others.

“The Mayor’s Mission is about bringing people together,” said Mayor Buckley. “It’s about celebrating what makes Henley such a caring and connected town — and turning that goodwill into practical help for others.”

“This first event, the Charity Bike Ride, is inspired by a similar ride that brought so many people together. It’s a chance to enjoy Henley’s countryside, make new friends, and raise much-needed funds for three wonderful local organisations.”

The Mayor’s Mission will continue throughout the year with three further charity events celebrating Henley’s community spirit, all designed to be inclusive and open to residents, visitors, and local businesses.
