Councillors and Staff were sad to hear of the passing of Liz Hodgkin. Liz was a dedicated public servant and cherished community volunteer in Henley-on-Thames. Elected to Henley Town Council in 2003, she served for twelve years, including two terms as Mayor of the town. From 2010 to 2015, she also represented the town as a district councillor.

She helped establish key initiatives including the ‘Gardening Buddies’ volunteer group, the Henley in Bloom campaign, and a major fundraising effort for the Eyot Centre. She offered steadfast support to numerous organisations including the Citizens Advice Bureau, Over-60s Club, Youth Centre, Thamesfield Youth Association, Henley Educational Charity, Henley Municipal Charities and Nomad. In recognition of her “above and beyond” service to the town, she was awarded the Henley Town Medal in 2019.

Liz combined civic leadership with community activism, always emphasising the value of collaboration and local engagement. Her legacy continues in the many volunteer-driven initiatives she helped to foster and the strengthened ties across Henley’s charitable and civic organisations.
