Henley Town Team
In 2011, the Prime Minister David Cameron commissioned Mary Portas, so called Queen of the High Streets, to conduct an independent review into the future of our high streets in England. The Portas Review was published in December 2011 and one of the key recommendations was to: “...put in place a Town Team: a visionary, strategic and strong operational management team for high streets”, that engages the business community, identifies and leads on projects that support the town and wider business community.
Established in 2014, the Henley-on-Thames Town Team builds on Henley’s existing strengths and history by bringing together representatives from all three tiers of local government, the Henley Business Partnership and the wider business community to identify the challenges facing the town and deliver projects that could bring about improvements and support the economic, social and cultural vitality of the town for all its businesses, residents and visitors. The Town Team has been developed as a way of involving Henley’s larger employers and business leaders with the development of policies and programmes that lead into the Business Plan and Economic Development Action Plan.
